Terms of Service
Terms governing your use of this website and our tours
Please read carefully before booking. These terms cover marketplace and direct bookings, SEPA and Stripe payments, cancellations, participant responsibilities, and the risks you accept on outdoor walking tours in Athens.
Introduction and Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Athens Blue Tours website at athensblue.com ("Website") and, where applicable, your inquiry, booking, payment, and participation in tours or related services operated by Athens Blue Tours ("we," "us," or "our"). By using this Website or making a direct booking with us, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use this Website or book with us directly. You must be at least 18 years old to enter into a booking contract. If you book for additional participants, including minors, you represent that you have authority to do so and you accept these Terms on their behalf.
Website Use and Prohibited Conduct
This Website is provided for informational and commercial communication purposes only. You may browse, read, and share tour information for personal, non-commercial use. All other use is subject to the restrictions below.
You agree not to: (a) use any automated tool, bot, scraper, or crawler to access, copy, or index content from this Website; (b) reproduce, republish, redistribute, or commercially exploit any itinerary copy, pricing information, route descriptions, brand assets, or structured data without prior written permission from Athens Blue Tours; (c) impersonate Athens Blue Tours, its guides, or its staff, or misrepresent your affiliation with the company; (d) submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information in connection with an inquiry or booking; (e) interfere with or circumvent the security, integrity, or performance of this Website or any connected systems; or (f) use this Website to harvest contact information for unsolicited communications.
Athens Blue Tours reserves the right to restrict or block access to this Website, or to refuse to engage with any inquiry, where these Terms are violated or misuse is reasonably suspected.
Booking Channels and Contract Formation
This Website may direct you either to a third-party booking platform or to direct contact with Athens Blue Tours. Bookings made through GetYourGuide, Viator, Airbnb Experiences, Bokun, or another marketplace are governed by that platform's own booking terms, payment rules, cancellation policy, and dispute process. If a platform booking conflicts with these Terms, the platform's terms govern that booking to the extent of the conflict.
Direct bookings arranged by email, phone, WhatsApp, or website inquiry are governed by these Terms. A direct booking is not binding until Athens Blue Tours issues written confirmation of the booking request. We may refuse any request, impose payment deadlines, or withdraw an unconfirmed quotation at any time before written confirmation.
Quoted prices are normally stated in EUR and may change until the booking is confirmed. Unless expressly included in writing, quoted prices do not cover bank fees, card-provider fees, foreign-exchange charges, personal insurance, food or beverages outside stated inclusions, personal shopping, transport to the meeting point, or any other incidental costs.
Direct Payment Terms: SEPA / IBAN and Stripe
For direct bookings, Athens Blue Tours may request payment by SEPA / IBAN bank transfer or by Stripe payment link. A booking date or time slot is not secured until cleared funds have been received in full, or until Stripe confirms successful payment, by the deadline we specify. If payment is late, incomplete, reversed, or cannot be matched to your booking, we may cancel the booking or release the time slot without liability to you.
If you pay by bank transfer, you are responsible for using the correct payment reference, for any charges imposed by your bank or intermediary institutions, and for ensuring that the full amount due reaches us in cleared funds. If you pay by Stripe link, the transaction is processed by Stripe under Stripe's own terms and privacy notice. Athens Blue Tours does not store your full card details.
If a refund is due for a direct booking, we may return it to the original payment method or, for bank transfers, to an account designated by the original payer after reasonable verification. We are not responsible for delays, exchange-rate losses, intermediary deductions, or banking errors caused by payment providers, banks, card schemes, or incorrect payment details supplied by you.
Cancellation, Rescheduling, Lateness, and No-Shows
For direct bookings, cancellations received at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time are eligible for a full refund of the amount paid directly to Athens Blue Tours. Cancellations received less than 24 hours before the scheduled start time are not eligible for a refund, regardless of reason, except where a non-excludable right applies under mandatory law.
Requests to reschedule received at least 48 hours before the scheduled start time may be accommodated, subject to availability, at our discretion and without any obligation to offer the same guide, route, or start time. A request to reschedule received within 48 hours of the scheduled start time may be treated as a cancellation.
Participants must arrive at the confirmed meeting point at the confirmed time, ready to begin. Athens Blue Tours is not obliged to delay the tour, extend the tour duration, relocate the meeting point, or provide a partial refund because of a late arrival, navigation problem, transport disruption, dead phone battery, or inability to contact you. If you are not present and reasonably ready to start at the confirmed time, or if you miss the guide's departure, your booking may be treated as a no-show and the full amount paid may be forfeited.
For bookings made through a third-party platform, that platform's cancellation, refund, no-show, and rescheduling rules apply. Refunds for direct bookings are limited to amounts actually paid directly to Athens Blue Tours.
Route Changes, Site Closures, and Force Majeure
Athens Blue Tours may alter the route, order of stops, pace, meeting point, start time, or duration of a tour where reasonably necessary for safety, crowd management, operational efficiency, archaeological-site rules, or the practical delivery of the service. This includes changes caused by queues, security restrictions, local events, road closures, transport disruption, guide illness, or conditions that make the planned route impracticable.
We may shorten, reroute, postpone, suspend, or cancel a tour where weather, heat advisories, wildfire conditions, strikes, public unrest, government measures, archaeological-site closures, museum restrictions, or other events beyond our reasonable control make performance unsafe, unlawful, or materially impracticable. Where a direct booking is cancelled by us before it begins, our liability is limited to offering a reschedule or refund of the amount paid directly to us for that booking, unless mandatory law requires otherwise.
Athens Blue Tours is not liable for consequential or incidental losses arising from cancellation, postponement, delay, or route modification, including transport costs, accommodation costs, missed connections, lost vacation time, or disappointment.
Participation Requirements, Fitness, Heat, and Minors
Athens Blue Tours operates outdoor walking tours across active city streets, ancient monuments, crowded public areas, markets, museums, and archaeological sites. Routes may include prolonged standing, steep or uneven steps, marble or cobblestone surfaces, limited shade, limited seating, exposed heat, and long walking distances. Summer conditions in Athens can be severe, exhausting, and potentially dangerous for participants who are not properly prepared.
By booking, you confirm that each participant in your party is physically and mentally capable of completing the booked route in the expected conditions. You are solely responsible for assessing your own suitability for long walks, stairs, heat, crowding, and ordinary urban hazards before booking. Participants with cardiovascular conditions, respiratory conditions, mobility limitations, pregnancy, heat sensitivity, recent injury, or any other medical consideration that could be affected by exertion or heat should seek medical advice before booking and disclose relevant limitations to us in advance.
Children and minors may participate only if accompanied at all times by a parent or legal guardian who remains fully responsible for their supervision, conduct, hydration, sun protection, pacing, and compliance with guide instructions. Some routes may not be suitable for infants, strollers, or young children because of stairs, terrain, timing, crowding, or heat. Athens Blue Tours may refuse or stop participation where, in our reasonable judgment, a participant's age, condition, equipment, or presentation creates a safety risk or a material operational problem.
Health, Medical Responsibility, and Food Allergens
Athens Blue Tours guides are not doctors, nurses, paramedics, or emergency responders, and they are not equipped to provide medical treatment. Participants remain responsible for their own health management, medications, hydration, sun protection, footwear, and personal readiness throughout the tour. Any costs associated with medical treatment, transport, hospital care, or insurance claims remain the participant's responsibility unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
You must disclose in advance any severe allergy, mobility issue, or other health condition that could materially affect safe participation or the delivery of the tour. Athens Blue Tours is not liable for adverse outcomes arising from undisclosed conditions, inaccurate information supplied by you, a participant's decision to join against medical advice, or a participant's failure to carry necessary medication or follow practical safety guidance.
Food tours involve independent venues, kitchens, markets, and food producers that Athens Blue Tours does not own or control. We cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment, complete separation of ingredients, or the absence of cross-contamination. Guests with food allergies or intolerances participate at their own risk and must notify us in advance, make their own final decision about what to consume, and carry any required medication, including emergency medication where relevant.
Conduct, Safety Compliance, and Refusal or Removal
All participants must follow the lawful instructions of the guide, local authorities, site security, and venue staff. Participants must behave respectfully toward the guide, other guests, venue staff, and the public, and must not endanger themselves, the group, or protected sites.
Athens Blue Tours may refuse participation or remove a participant, without refund, if that participant is late, intoxicated, aggressive, abusive, discriminatory, disruptive, improperly equipped for the route, unwilling to follow safety instructions, or otherwise presents a safety, welfare, reputational, or operational risk. We may make this decision at our sole discretion where we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect the guide, the group, or the service.
Athens Blue Tours is not liable for any loss, missed experience, or additional cost arising from a refusal of service or removal under this section.
Personal Belongings and Third-Party Services
Participants are solely responsible for their own belongings at all times, including phones, cameras, wallets, passports, jewelry, bags, documents, tickets, strollers, and any other valuables or personal property. Athens Blue Tours does not provide secure storage and is not responsible for loss, theft, damage, delay, or misplacement of personal belongings whether occurring on the street, at a site, in a vehicle, in a venue, or during any pause in the tour.
Athens Blue Tours is also not responsible for the acts, omissions, delays, closures, errors, or service failures of independent booking platforms, banks, payment processors, museums, archaeological authorities, transport providers, food and beverage venues, telecommunications providers, or any other third party that is not under our direct control, except to the extent liability cannot be excluded under applicable law.
Assumption of Risk, Website Disclaimer, and Limitation of Liability
Outdoor walking tours in Athens involve inherent and obvious risks that cannot be eliminated. These include, without limitation, slips on ancient stone, marble, or cobblestones; falls on steps or uneven terrain; exposure to heat, sun, dehydration, and exhaustion; dense crowds; pickpocketing or loss of property in public places; traffic-related hazards; insect bites; food reactions; and incidents arising from public-site conditions or the actions of other visitors. By participating, you acknowledge these risks and voluntarily assume them as a normal part of the experience.
This Website is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Athens Blue Tours disclaims all warranties not expressly stated, and shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profit, revenue, opportunity, goodwill, or data arising from the Website, a booking inquiry, or a tour.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law. Subject to that rule, and only to the extent permitted by law, the maximum aggregate liability of Athens Blue Tours arising from a direct booking shall not exceed the amount paid directly to Athens Blue Tours for the specific booking giving rise to the claim.
Governing Law, Consumer Rights, and Regulatory Information
These Terms are governed by the laws of Greece. If you are acting as a consumer, nothing in these Terms is intended to deprive you of any mandatory rights or remedies that cannot be waived under applicable consumer or other mandatory law.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms, the Website, or a direct booking shall be submitted to the courts of Athens, Greece, unless mandatory law requires a different forum.
